The other changes made to the Kanzenban release were relatively minor. The main changes made to the updated Kanzenban rerelease were the addition of 7 minutes of extra cutscenes, mostly featuring an expanded role for Wesker. Wesker also makes his grand reappearance after his absence from Resident Evil 2 and 3. This game was originally going to be called Resident Evil 3 in the timeline, but because of name policies at the time (this prevented games released on consoles outside of the PlayStation platforms from being numbered with the main series), it was renamed Code: Veronica instead. Resident Evil – Code: Veronica was the first game in the Resident Evil series to include a real-time 3D environment (Resident Evil 1, 2 and 3 used pre-rendered static backgrounds). Compare the cutscenes from the original Dreamcast release of Code: Veronica with the updated Kanzenban game released only in Japan.
